Snæfellsnes: The Peninsula Mystery
Snæfellsnes is the landscape that inspired Jules Verne’s Journey to the Center of the Earth. On this private tour, you bypass the crowded bus routes with a born-and-raised local guide. You'll walk across moss-covered lava fields, stand on towering basalt cliffs, and explore black sand beaches, all in the shadow of an ancient, ice-capped volcano.

Overview
The Peninsula
Snæfellsnes is a narrow strip of land stretching into the Atlantic that manages to pack in almost every signature Icelandic landscape. The anchor of the region is the Snæfellsjökull glacier, an ancient stratovolcano steeped in centuries of folklore. Because this is a private trip, we drop the rigid schedules. If you want to spend an hour watching seals on a golden beach, we do. If you want to hike through pitch-black lava fields, we go.
The Route
We follow the coastline toward Kirkjufell, the iconic arrowhead mountain that rises right out of the sea. Further west, the terrain drops off into the sheer basalt cliffs of Arnarstapi and Lóndrangar, where thousands of seabirds nest. We’ll stop at the black wooden church at Búðir, surrounded by velvet moss, and walk the volcanic pebble shores of Djúpalónssandur to see the rusted iron remains of a historic shipwreck.
The Local Difference
Traveling with a local guide means you actually absorb the environment instead of just driving past it. Your guide handles the logistics, the driving, and the storytelling. If the light hits a fjord perfectly, we pull over. If the weather shifts, we pivot to a hidden local cafe. You set the pace.

I cannot say enough positive things about my private tour day with Margret. I told her I was most interested in being in the energy of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. And particularly the glacier of the same name said to be a particularly powerful energy vortex. She created a day that I will remember for the rest of my life!
Simply fantastic. Everything was perfectly organized and carried out by experts. Very friendly, efficient, but also entertaining. Highly recommended.
