The Circle
The Golden Circle is the most driven tourist route in Iceland, and the most rushed. Busloads cycle through the three stops on a fixed timetable, Þingvellir, Geysir and Gullfoss, often spending more time in parking lots than at the sights themselves. This private Land Rover Defender tour treats the same route as the starting point, not the destination. After the classic stops, you'll head to highland tracks where standard tours cannot reach, and onwards to conquer Langjökull glacier, where most Golden Circle visitors never go.
The Saga
The journey begins riding in comfortable transport to Þingvellir, where the North American and Eurasian plates are visibly pulling apart and where Viking chieftains established the world's first parliament in 930 AD. Your guide does not recite dates. He tells the stories of the clans who gathered here, the feuds that shaped the law, and the geology that made this rift a natural amphitheatre. We had the absolute best day with our tour guide. He was incredibly knowledgeable—not just about the sites along the Golden Circle, but also about Iceland’s history, culture, and hidden gems. Every stop felt personalized! From exploring stunning natural landmarks to an exhilarating snowmobile ride on a glacier, he made sure every moment was memorable. One of the highlights was a stop at the tomato farm, where we had the most delicious tomato soup and the best Bloody Mary we've ever tasted. The guide's passion for Iceland and his friendly, engaging personality made the whole experience unforgettable. We can’t rave enough about how amazing he was. Highly, highly recommend!!
We spent an entire day on the Golden Circle tour along with snowmobiling on a glacier. Our guide was so great. We saw so many fabulous sites and just had a good time. It certainly did not feel like 9 hours together. The day just flew by.

We did a full day golden circle tour this week. It was simply breathtaking. Our guide's knowledge is off the charts. His defender got us to places other vehicles couldn’t even get close to. Going out into the glacier was simply awesome. We will be back to do more tours. One of the best experiences in my life. The views he took us to were unreal. I would highly recommend! We can’t say enough about our day. Our guide was so very knowledgeable, funny, interesting, funny, articulate, wonderful and did I say funny? We laughed all day and went home missing him. This has got to be the best meet up ever. He has found his true calling. Everywhere we stopped was amazing. You will not be disappointed.

Our guide was extremely knowledgeable about Iceland. Our group was interested in history, culture, folklore and geology and he was able to answer all of our questions on any topic. Door to door service and perfect for any travelers. His dog was a perfect co-tour guide. Truly a superlative experience.
Guide is knowledgeable and engaging. His Land Rover is clean, comfortable and capable of going off the beaten path to explore places that larger vehicles cannot access. In addition, as a native Icelander he is a treasure trove of history, culture and the environment. You’ll go to the main stunning attractions as well as some others that are lesser known but equally interesting. All of this- in the company of an engaging storyteller and nice person.
